My work reflects moments in nature, specifically the way light hits the leaves of plants and how plants occupy the space they are given. What I love the most about being immersed in nature is the euphoric feeling of freedom, and being able to capture this on the canvas. I paint abstractly, pushing past the limit of what is seen on the surface. I find a balance between painting what I see and the memories, emotions, and sensations triggered by what the eye sees.
I build diverging layers of paint, some thin and transparent and some thick and textured. I consider each layer individually, brushing away any concerns I have with what the finished work will look like. I do not worry if one layer will conceal another because each layer leaves its mark, whether it be tangible or latent. Each layer merges with the others to form new spaces infused with emotion and expression.
My paintings are intricate, abstract scavenger hunts, capturing the eye with vibrant colors, and drawing the viewer in to find the smaller details. They offer an experience that allows the viewer to live in the present moment and find personal connections through what they see.
